Our recruitment process has been designed to give you the chance to show us who you are and whether you possess the skills and experience we are looking for. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to learn more about us and decide whether we are the right company for you.

The recruitment process

Once you have created your career profile and submitted your online application it will be assessed by one of our team to see how well it matches our requirements. So the more information you provide to demonstrate you are a good match, the better.

As part of our recruitment process we will ask you to complete a series of psychometric tests which will include both ability tests and a personality questionnaire.

Ability tests are used to gain insight into how you perform on reasoning tasks, such as numerical or verbal reasoning. Questions are usually presented in a multiple-choice format. The best strategy for these tests is to work as quickly and accurately as you can, but not so quickly that you make careless mistakes.

Personality questionnaires focus on assessing your behaviour. You will be asked to describe your preference in communicating and interacting with others and your typical working style by rating how well a number of statements apply to you.

Our interviews are both technical and competency based, so they will be conducted by a member of the Human Resources team and a line manager. These interviews are your chance to provide additional evidence about how you have applied your technical skills and knowledge in the past. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions that matter to you.

The final stage will be a more in-depth discussion of your experience. You may also be asked to make a presentation, complete a case study or take part in a group discussion.


Important notice for potential candidates

Potential candidates should be wary of approaches that request an interview via an instant messaging service and/or appear to be offering a job for which they have not applied, especially if personal details or money must be sent in order to proceed with the recruitment.
Neither Cristal nor any of our third party providers recruit in this manner. Such approaches are almost certainly fraudulent attempts to gain details of identity for illegal use.

Hints & Tips

  • Do your research.

    Before applying think about why you are applying for the position and research our company. The more you know about us the more prepared you will be.

  • Be prepared. Make sure your résumé is up to date and that you are familiar with its contents. Also make sure you have read the job advertisement for the position. Prepare a list of questions to ask us so you can assess whether Cristal is the right place for you.
  • Applying online.

  • Practice Tests.

    If you are invited to undertake the online Cristal Selection tests take the time to visit the online website prior to the testing to undertake a few practice tests so you are familiar and comfortable with how the online testing system works.

  • Be yourself.

    We want to get to know you, so there is no point in telling us what you think you should be saying or learning answers by heart. Be honest, open and sell yourself.

  • Actively participate.

    During our interviews and assessment centers we will be looking to you to show us evidence that you have the right skills and qualities you need to succeed in our business, so make sure you join in. During the interview, listen carefully to each question and take time to think about your answer. Think of examples that best demonstrate your capabilities. Make sure you think of questions to ask us too.

The assessment process will vary according to the country or region you have applied to. Typically, our recruiting professionals will compare your skills and experience with the requirements of the position for which you have applied as well as any other open position.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to complete some online tests. Following this, you may be asked to attend an interview or to participate in an assessment centre. If you are not successful in your application we will be in touch to let you know.

The time taken to review applications will vary depending on the type of role you are applying for. We always try to respond to applications as soon as possible, and you will be contacted whether your application is successful or not.

Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide detailed feedback to candidates who are not successful in reaching the assessment stage of our process.
